1. For those who want to dedicate their child...

  2. Baby Dedication Policy
We believe that if a person has committed themselves to this church in membership, we can dedicate their baby with confidence before God.  We do not dedicate babies unless the father or mother is a member of this church. To dedicate means to initiate, especially into Christian living; to discipline in the narrow way.  It should be understood that a dedication ceremony is a church tradition and is NOT required biblically, but is is certainly permissible and encouraged.  It is NOT to be considered a church ordinance on the same level as communion or water baptism. Dedicating your child does not mean that the child is now saved or born again.  We believe that all children are considered innocent by God.  That is a decision the child must make on his own when he is old enough to decide for himself.  When you dedicate a child you are presenting him to the Lord.   This is done to recognize that this child has come from God and you intend to train the child so he might always walk with Him.

  3. We dedicate babies two years old and under.  The dedication ceremony is a time that you as Christian parents publicly commit yourselves before God and the congregation that you are going to raise your child according to the Christian faith.

  4. Scripture references of dedication
    A.  Genesis 21:8
It appears that Abraham dedicated Isaac when he was weaned.

  5. B.  Deuteronomy 20:5
The people dedicated their homes to behold unto the Lord.  We can see that you can dedicate things as well as a child to the Lord.

  6. C.  Luke 2:22
Jesus was presented to the Lord as a baby.

  7. D.  Luke 18:15-17, Matthew 19:13, Mark 10:13
The parents brought their children to be blessed by Jesus.  It was the custom of the day to bring babies to be blessed by rabbis.  Jesus said, “Allow this to be.”
